  • A grandparent had to look after a number of his grandchildren for a specific time of three months. Each week a church volunteer gave him a washing basket full of fruit and vegetables. One night a week another church volunteer delivered a prepared meal so the grandparent had a night off cooking.
  • An elderly lady needed wood chopped for her fire. A volunteer happily did it.
  • A church volunteer accompanied a new Australian to a meeting in the city while another volunteer took care of the children in the family home.
  • A young woman needed a handrail fixed in her bathroom. It took the volunteer no time to fix it. He also noticed other areas of need that were referred back to the Referral Centre and other church volunteers were able to assist.
  • A pot plant needed repotting for a lady. Easily done by a joyful volunteer.

1. A call for help . . . is received by the LinC Referral Centre. Food, transport, friendship, budgeting, lawn mowing, parenting skills...all kinds of needs are referred to the centre.

2. LinC phone volunteers . . . assess needs on the basis of manageability, legitimacy and vicinity of a local participating church. If an agency exists which can meet that need, it is referred to that agency.

3. Help is found. Most people seeking help will be referred to a Church Volunteer Coordinator who will identify the appropriate volunteer to meet the need.
